Start with a problem.
The problem is identified by people.
People start to get together to talk about addressing it-form amovement(power in number)
debate ideas for how to address the problem-brainstorm TRATICS(write a letter,make an appointment for a meeting,protest,boycott,atrike,ALERT THE MEDIA)
choose a plan of action-address whoever is in power(goverment offical superintendent,principal,parent,boss,owner,etc.........)
at some point,hopefully quickly, those in power make the change(or the group becomes the ones in power)-LAWS,rules,regulations,programs
-when people are get problem to living in the society.
-Then the people have to forces on the society they living.
Example: The immirgants who has came to the United Stated had thanks to the hot water and bathroom .which mean the house of the immirgant living give them a better life.Other said that immirgants didn't have this they should has and lived with many people on the small house.

What were the problems? What was done about them? How much change occurred?
You will be researching one of the topics below. For your topic you will:
· Conduct internet research and create 2-column notes to acquire information about your topic from at least 3 different sites. The Most important Laws of the Progressive Era There are about 10 extremely significant laws that were passed during the Progressive Era.Four of them are amendments to the Constitution,meaning that they were laws added to the orginal laws of the constutution.
16th Amendment-allows the government to take Income taxes.The more money you make ,the more taxes you pay.The upper class helps society through their tax money.
17th Amendment-citizen voter allowed to elect their Senators.This made voting more democratic-the people have more power over who represents them in government.
18th Amendment-PROHIBITION-outlawed the making,selling,and distributing of alcohot-passed in 1919.Lasted until 1933,when the 21st amendment replealed it.
19th Amendment-women allowed to vote in national elections.Passed in 1920.
JIm Crow laws-laws that required raclal segregation-whites and black used separate schools,restaurant sections,bathrooms,water fountains,etc...Not Progress-racism,discrimination,prejudice were still in need of progress.
Tenement Act of 1991-law to improve living conditions in cities-must have running water, bathroom,lights in the hallways,fix exits,etc........Muckraker Jacob Riis made this happen through his book How the other Half lives.
ALSO some of the muckraker had ida Tarbell,Lincoln Steffens,Upton Sinctair, Thomas Nast Ida Tarbell are the muckraker that work on McClure's Magazine and her one best known story for "The History of the Standard Oil Company"(1904) that exposed Rockefeller's standard oil Co. Lincoln Steffens are the one of muckraker who wrote The Shame of the Cities exposing corruption in politics and big business. Muckraker are primarily, a reporter or writer who investigates and publishes truthful reports involving a host of social issues, broadly including crime and corruption and often involving elected officials, political leaders and influential members of business and industry.
Pure Food and Drug Act :a federal law that federal inspection of meat products and forbade the manufacture, sale, or transportation of adulterated food products and poisonous .
Sherman Antitrust Act & Clayton Antitrust Act : prohibiting any contract, trust, or conspiracy in restraint of interstate or foreign trade.
